Zovirax Dosage

Zovirax is available in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg tablets for the treatment of cold sores caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, and varicella zoster virus.

The medication is available as a 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, and 300 mg tablet. The usual starting dose is 5 mg. For children 12 years and older, the dose is 200 mg, 100 mg, and 200 mg per day for 5 mg tablets. Zovirax is recommended to be taken three times a day for 5-8 hours.

Zovirax is also available in the following strengths:

  • 100 mg and 200 mg tablets: 250 mg to 400 mg
